about

Okay, okay, okay. If you're actually reading these and care what these songs are about, then I guess I'll keep writing about them semi-seriously! In the words of this song, I realize truly what it means to be striving for a long-term relationship. You'll go through increeeedible times of growth and love, and then... Things'll suck for awhile. And it's not just that you're aiming for walking down that aisle, it's that you're aiming to love one another for the rest of your LIFE together! I pray that maybe, just maybe, one day I can be 84 with my best friend, sitting on the porch, reading the newspaper, petting our four dogs, changing one another's air tanks, and learning each and every second as I look into her beautiful eyes even more what true, God-centered love really is.

lyrics

Let’s just roam
Thoughts forgo
Summer’s warm
And winter’s cold

Eye to eye
Might you find
Autumn’s fall
And spring’s new mold

There you were
Heart astir
Aisles away yet in my arms

Fires may burn
Flash and turn
Pray that cycle never starts

Ring in hand I go
Through that lonesome snow so cold
Marble steps do show
This is called my future’s home

Stuck in place
Face to face
Every promise, every vow

But how can words
Or simple verbs
Show the depth of here and now

Cause you’re the gift I’ll keep
Just content to never leave
No more turning back
A choice I never really had

Bright Sunday
Inner rain
Strife and struggle here to stay

Can it be?
Can’t you see?
Never give up, never flee

Cause life’s too short to cry
Tears can blind those bright blue eyes
From God’s gift of peace
I know it’s sometimes hard to see

Two old chairs
Marbled stairs
Forlorn lines for every year

Summer’s passed
All too fast
Eighty-four, and I’m your dear
